Virginia Task Force 1 (VA TF-1), the commonwealth's specialized search and rescue team, is back home from working victim recovery operations following deadly floods in Texas.

The Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Team welcomed home four team members and three of their K9s who were deployed to Texas following catastrophic flooding that claimed the lives of more than 100 people. The team returned to Virginia after spending 17 days aiding in the recovery efforts following the floods.

The team with the Los Angeles County Fire Department was deployed to Texas on July 8. Over the next 18 days, the specialized dogs helped rescue teams search for remaining victims after floods tore through the region, leaving at least 138 dead. Dozens are still unaccounted for.
