Tesla reportedly fired Omead Afshar, its head of North American and European operations, in June following a massive drop in European EV deliveries. Afshar, who joined Tesla in 2017, was just promoted to the position in November. The Wall Street Journal described Afshar as one of Musk's closest confidants at the company.

Musk originally brought up the concept of the retro-diner concept in 2018. The Tesla Diner & Drive-In combines a 1950s-style American diner with Tesla technology. Located on Santa Monica Boulevard, it's open 24/7 and features both indoor and outdoor seating for up to 250 people.

Musk said his automaker “probably could have a few rough quarters” ahead as federal electric vehicle credits expire soon.

Tesla has also yet to prove that its Full Self-Driving software can be used to power a robotaxi network. While the company has been running an invite-only version of its robotaxi service in Austin since June 22, it’s been a far cry from what Musk has spent years teasing.
